As a Thousand Oaks, Westlake and Calabasas sinus doctor/specialist I’m often asked are there any side effects to Balloon Sinuplasty or balloon sinus dilation. I can honestly say that side effects from this minimally invasive procedure are extremely rare and infrequent. Infrequent enough that I have only encountered one in the past 3 years I have been performing the procedure (a case of very mild bleeding after the procedure). The most likely side effect is bleeding which can happen from any nose or sinus procedure, because it is such a vascular area. Very rarely patients can develop scar tissue along the area being dilated. Rare infections can also ensue after the procedure. Nonetheless these complications occur in less than 1% of cases and the relief obtained by my patients postoperatively is so significant that the benefit greatly outweighs the risk. So if you would like a consultation to discuss possible balloon sinuplasty or sinus surgery, don’t hesitate to contact me at (818) 888-7878.
